Creative in advertising must always face the challenge of making the client stand out, especially if the advertiser decides to get into the game during the NHL playoffs.
The Flamingo marketing team decided to make a bold move last spring during the meetings between the Montreal Canadiens and their opponents televised on the RDS sports channel. During the games, Flamingo (chicken wings and chicken chunkies) proposed several versions of short messages to be aired depending on the score at the time of broadcast. If Les Canadiens were ahead in the scoring, the Flamingo message was: “Our team made short work of their opponent.... “. If the score was tied, you would hear: “ Our team is getting into high gear.... “. And if the Habs trailed: ”I think we can say our team has had its wings clipped....” As a result, Flamingo chicken wings and chunkies really got into the game... like a true sports commentator or better, true fans. This was a first! And we shouldn’t be surprised if the advertising agency that developed this concept has the Habs’ colours in its name. Yes indeed! The agency is called Bleu Blanc Rouge.
The campaign was also nominated for the Innovation Media Awards nationwide competition this fall.
